Define degree of ionization. Explain the effect of concentration and temperature on degree of ionization.

Degree of Ionization: - The fraction of the total number of molecules of an electrolyte that ionizes in solution called the degree of ionization.

Effect on Degree of ionization:-

1. Concentration of the solution- Degree of Ionization is inversely proportional to concentration. As concentration increases, degree of ionization decreases & vice a versa.

2. Temperature of solution- Degree of Ionization is directly proportional to temperature. As temperature increases, degree of ionization increases.
