Application of Hard steel: 

Fig. (a) Shows hysteresis loop for hard steel. Such materials are used for producing permanent magnets. Such a hysteresis loop represents a large residual flux & hence large coercive force. 


Application of Soft steel:  

Fig. (b) Shows hysteresis loop for Soft steel. Residual flux & coercive force are less. Hence material can be used for making the electromagnets.
