Why is "RJ-45" cable called "RJ-45" ?

RJ stands for “Registered Jack” by Ma Bell, 45 is the name and not necessarily a datajack. 8P8C would be the correct term and they used them for Cat 5, Cat 5E, Cat..... etc as the standard connected because people werrr familiar with them. The “Categories “ is just a progression of data speeds the higher the number the faster it is
