Coal  based  power  plant  uses  burnt  coal  to  produce  heat  energy  to  heat  up  water  to  run  turbines  while  nuclear  power  plant  uses  heat energy  produced   from  nuclei  undergoing  fussion  or  fission  to  heat  water  to  run  the  turbines.
